Fair and Square is a free interactive browser game about wealth inequality, chance and redistribution, created by physicist Hamed Seyed-Allaei.
Based on the Yard-Sale Model, it explores how repeated trades with equal chances of winning can concentrate wealth, and how changing the stake and tax rate affects the outcome.
Animated squares represent wealth. Players can explore the Gini coefficient, Lorenz curve and effective number of participants to see how simple rules give rise to complex, unexpected behaviour.
For the story behind the squares, read how Fair and Square was made, or explore the code on GitHub.
